Twitch Launches Original Show: “Songwriters”

Twitch has a diverse and vibrant community of talented music creators across different genres, backgrounds, formats and experiences. To further amplify the talent on our service, Twitchis launching “Songwriters” – a songwriting and performance competition show where music creators write and perform a new original song each week. The show will be hosted by /Fareeha and the first episode will go live September 29 at 12 noon PT on /Twitchmusic.

Through “Songwriters”, Twitch will spotlight, celebrate, and support music creators by helping them to further amplify their voices and talent while also giving them the opportunity to grow and develop their communities. Each week a group of six streamers will be challenged to create an original song, based on a theme, prompt, or challenge decided by Twitch Chat. In the week leading up to each episode, the artists will stream their process on their own channel for their communities.  The creators will then perform their song live on the show for a panel of judges who will, with Chat, vote on a winner who will receive a cash prize.

“Songwriters” differs from other music competition shows due to audience interactivity. In true Twitch form, the audience will have a direct impact on the results of the competition and will be fundamental to the content; they will determine the themes, goals, and challenges through Polls, vote for their favorite music creator after the performance, and as always, engage directly with the show & creators through Chat.
