MUHAMMAD ALI, the award winning filmmaker worked with Spotify exclusively for a playlist of songs featured in the film, Music from Muhammad Ali.
Premiering on PBS on September 19, the four-part series follows the life of one of the most consequential men of the 20th century, a three-time heavyweight boxing champion who captivated fans with his combination of speed, agility and power in the ring, and his charm, wit and outspokenness outside of it.
With music from iconic artists in soul and country, to newer contemporary songs in rock and R&B — including “Crosstown Traffic” by Jimi Hendrix, “The Break In (Police Shoot Big)” by Marvin Gaye, “Freedom” by Beyonce ft Kendrick Lamar, “Sympathy For The Devil” by The Rolling Stones and more –the music in the film plays an essential role in building the sweeping portrait of an American icon who challenged racial prejudices and, religious biases and became a model for other athletes and ordinary people unwilling to accept the status quo. Ali’s message of pride and self-affirmation has inspired people across the world.
